Danika has been using timed writing exercises in her workshops for decades. For both writers and teachers of writers, this page is full of 5 minute exercises that may be used to unblock ideas; inspire new scenes, stories, or poems; jump start your writing day; or simply reveal something new.
They are not limited to five minutes, but sometimes when blocked, setting a timer and writing for 5 minutes is all you need to do.
Write physically with pen on paper if able. Set a timer and go. Don’t stop to edit.
